The reason I decided to start this blog was because I stumbled across Zoe’s blog and really wanted to be able to join in with her sewing challenge. Now it is time for the next challenge – Self-Stitched September!
The challenge is flexible and Zoe is keen to encourage people to adapt it to their needs and requirements. In June I wore a handmade or refashioned item of clothing or jewellery every day – I allowed myself to wear jewellery so I could have some freedom on the days when I had specific things I had to do (choir concert with all black dress code, or needing to wear my Take That t-shirt to the concert), and I’ll admit this did make me a bit lazy at times. I haven’t sewn that much since the challenge finished, but I wanted to make things a bit trickier this time.
In September I am not going to count jewellery or accessories as my self-stitched items (although they will score bonus points), so if I have a strict dress-code and no self-stitched items that qualify what can I do? Wear something me-made that can’t be seen! Zoe (again!) had a little tutorial for making pants, and I have lots of fabric that “isn’t quite enough for a top” so how hard can it be?!
I, Alison of anotherlittlecraftycreation.wordpress.com, sign up as a participant of Self-Stitched-Sept ’11. I endeavour to wear at least one self-stitched item of clothing, at all times, each day for the duration of September 2011
The “at all times” refers to the pyjama bottoms I have been making – I will even wear handmade items in my sleep!
