Next up in the Block of the Month 2012 Course were the half-square triangles.
I was really apprehensive about cutting out so many triangles, but the method taught was to cut squares and sew them either side of the diagonal; two half-square triangles made at a time, with no bias-edges to deal with.
First was the Chunky Chevron block. I love the bold design and think it could look great as a full quilt, showcasing some great prints.
Balkan Puzzle Block
For the Balkan Puzzle Block I decided not to use plain white background fabric, and instead chose white with dots. Hmmm… was it a good idea? I can’t decide whether it is too busy or if it will look good with all the other blocks. I love polka-dots but maybe this was too much! What do you think?

Love the polkas and no it isn’t too busy. It will jazz up the quilt once it’s all together!
Love the polka dots! I think that what stops it from being too busy is the fact that the white on colour dots are so small that if you squint it almost look like a solid x
